Students consult top rugby team on marketing strategy

A group of MSc Enterprise Management students has conducted an end-of-year project with a twist – helping to promote Coventrys rugby team, the Coventry Bears, to the rest of the West Midlands.
As part of the groups Integrated Marketing Communications module, students applied the principles of producing a full marketing plan for the respected sports team – as well as to the cause of promoting rugby as a whole.
Brimming with ideas, students bought a wealth of knowledge to the team based around viral and guerrilla advertising, increased sponsorship, competitions and special events. Working with a relatively low budget, the students also devised savvy, innovative methods ways to roll out major campaigns on YouTube and smartphone apps.
Students were able to apply what they have learned on their course to the challenges faced in building attendance, revenues and brand image on a low budget where rugby is not so well known, said module tutor Jeff Perry.
It was great to be able to think about and use knowledge on behalf of such a community-focused local organisation, added Enterprise Management student Bernadette Murphy.
Such was the quality of students work that Alan Robinson, former Rugby League player and owner of the Coventry Bears, is now considering taking their projects forward to integrate into the clubs marketing strategy.
The students have done an amazing job, he said. Marketing and development of the rugby league is never easy and Im grateful they have taken the time to look at the challenges we face and come up with some new ideas to tackle them.

Annual bachelor's fees for bachelor programs in England and Wales vary from £ 7500 to £ 9250 depending on the degree and the university. EU student applicants can benefit from a student loan that covers the training fee for the entire period of study, the loan is granted on preferential terms and the repayment term is 30 years. Some universities in England also offer scholarships, as well as a rebate from the training fee, accommodation or one-off financial assistance in cash.
Masters program fees in England are between £ 3500 and £ 18000 depending on the university and specialty. EU applicants can use a student loan to finance their masters program, regardless of the form of education - either regular or part-time. The maximum credit amount is £ 10000 and is paid directly to the bank's account with a British bank. Bachelor's degree programs in Scotland are subsidized by the state. For Bulgarian citizens, the fee is forfeited. Students in Master Programs can also borrow up to £ 3400, but only for specific programs.
Living in the UK requires between £ 600 - £ 700 a month, with London, Edinburgh and the other major cities bringing it closer to £ 1,000 to £ 1,200. Dormitory accommodation costs between £ 75 and £ 130 per week, depending on the type and size of the room, and usually includes the cost of electricity, water, heating and the Internet.
